The Ramp's Story

Welcome to The Ramp Restaurant an inviting family-owned dining destination located in the amazing Portage Lakes, Ohio.

Our Crew is dedicated to serving a quality meal prepared with the freshest produce, meat, and seafood.  We are passionate about providing a menu that features something for everyone.  The Ramp Restaurant offers a wide variety of appetizers, salads, sandwiches and hearty entrees such as filet, salmon, pasta and more.  All of the Ramp Restaurant desserts are homemade, and we are proud to be the exclusive on-the-water provider of local favorite PAV’s Creamery Ice Cream.

This beautifully designed restaurant allows our guests to experience true lake like where historical décor meets a modern flare.  The Ramp Restaurant features Portage Lakes and marine-themed memorabilia including several antique motors along the walls.  The center of the restaurant hosts a 1955 Chris-Craft boat that has been converted into a booth for your dining experience. Inside, guests can relax and unwind while enjoying signature cocktails or one of the many award-winning wines and beers from our extensive bar menu while sitting at the 50-foot granite bar.  The Ramp Restaurant has 12 beefs on draft and a large variety of craft beers.  Throughout the restaurant, patrons can cheer on their favorite team and catch all the action on one of the 20 televisions.  Windows lining the lake-side of the building provide for an amazing view of every season with each meal.

Stepping outside to the 105-foot patio guests can take in stunning panoramic views while enjoying lunch or dinner.  The patio also features a dedicated bar and 6 additional televisions.  A lake-side dining establishment would not be complete without dedicated dock spaces for guests arriving by water.  The Ramp Restaurant features 24 dedicated dock slips for patrons.

A family affair

It all began back in the 1940’s with an Akron area icon called Art’s Place which Ernie Genovese owned.  80 years later the Genovese family who are long time Portage Lakes community members decided to bring this family tradition back to life.  Diners can step back in time an enjoy signature items from Art’s Place including the Bean Soup and Art’s Salad.

The Genovese family have owned and operated Sandy Beach Marina on Cottage Grove Lake for more than 35 years.  The Marina is still fully operational, and the property now hosts The Ramp Restaurant which opened in October of 2018.

There was a call from the community and Marina customers for a great dining destination in the Portage Lakes.  After months of research the Genovese family began personally constructing the 6,300 sq foot restaurant.  The Ramp Restaurant celebrates the past of the Portage Lakes while providing the current community a family-friend dining experience. On a daily basis you will find Jim, Zana and the members of the Genovese family at the restaurant and interacting with guests.

Not only do we call the Portage Lakes home, we are dedicated to supporting it.  The Ramp Restaurant and the Genovese family have been champions for The Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank, Akron Rotary Camp, The Autism Society, The Portage Lakes Polar Bear Club and numerous other charities in the area.

We invite you to spend a lazy afternoon having lunch on the patio or enjoy an extraordinary dinner with us.

Thank you for your support.
